Maoists take over school

Regular classes at the Neelkantha Higher Secondary School in Dhadingbesi has come to a halt from 24 August after the Maoist affiliated student organisation ANNFSU-R forcefully opened their office in the school. A meeting of the school administration has issued a statement saying the school will be closed until further notice.

Teachers say the Maoist students refused to go back and forcefully opened their office in the school premises even after being given assurances that the matter could be dealt with after the campus chief returned from Kathmandu. Students of the school retaliated by burning the furniture and documents of the ANNFSU-R and locking the office. They accused the Maoists of misbehaving with the teachers and shouted slogans against them. The school is well known in the district.
