The decision to take withdraw the hefty increases in the prices of petroleum products may have stopped the protestors but purchase and distribution of petroleum products did not pick up on Monday.

Dealers whose pumps were vandalised during the protests went on strike demanding compensation from the government. They surrounded Nepal Oil Corporation and threatened that they will not buy petroleum products from the corporation unless their demands are met.

Petroleum dealers association said that during the protests against price hike this past weekend, agitated crowds vandalised 16 petrol pumps throughout the country and nine alone in Kathmandu.

The association submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister demanding compensation of the petroleum products purchased after the price hike as the government reduced the price after two days and also asked the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Supply, Hridyesh Tirpathi and Deputy General Manager of NOC, Umesh Prasad Dahal both resign.

Tripathi said the government is not aware of the damages but promised to take necessary steps when the government learns more.
