Shyam Sharan in town



Indian Foreign Secretary Shyam Sharan who is in Kathmandu to take part in the two day regional conference of Indian ambassadors posted in SAARC countries has been meeting leaders of various political parties. On Monday Shyam Sharan called on General Secretary of CPN-UML Madhav Kumar Nepal and Speaker of the House Subash Nembang to discuss the country's present political scenario. The meetings focused on Maoist's weapons management, establishing peace and forming an interim government. Sharan is said to have suggested the leaders to press for weapons management before accepting the Maoists on the interim government. He also reiterated India's commitment to help establish permanent peace in Nepal.

The Indian Foreign Secretary who served as Indian Ambassador to Nepal earlier arrived here on 22 July. On Sunday he met with Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and inquired about his health.
