More arrested as protests continue



Over 25 Home Ministry employees and four journalists were arrested today from a protest program organized at Singha Durbar premises. Police also arrested 11 employees of Nepal Rastra Bank, from a peaceful rally. The employees union of the bank have threatened further strikes unless they are released immediately.

Despite heavy rains protests continued in the valley in places like Patan, Dhumbarai, Thimi, Godavari, Suryabinayak, Kopan and Buddha Nagar. A woman was injured in Buddha Nagar when security forces opened fire this morning and situation is reported to be tense in the area. Similarly, about 700 people gathered in Kirtipur today afternoon to attend the demonstration organized by academics.

Demonstrations were also reported from Gaighat Udayapur, Saptari, Rajbiraj and Morang. Indigenous community and the seven parties took out a pro-democracy rally in Pokhara this morning. Heavy clashes are being reported in front of Dipendra City Hall, Pokhara. About 48 people were injured in different clashes in Pokhara today.
