The statement hit the internet as the Nepali Maoists hold their own Politburo meeting in which Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal is under strong pressure from hardliners led by Mohan Baidya (Kiran). The Indian Maoists clearly support the Baidya faction.
'The line and policies that (the Nepali Maoists following) are not consistent with the fundamental tenets of MLM and teachings of our great Marxist teachers,' the letter says.
The letter goes on to say that the Indian Maoists were forced to speak out because of the danger of "serious deviation" by the Nepali Maoists from the path of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism. 'This step has become necessary because of the very serious developments that had taken place in the course of development of the revolution in Nepal that have a bearing on our understanding of imperialism and proletarian revolution as well as the strategy-tactics to be pursued by Maoist revolutionaries in the contemporary world,' the letter adds.
In a part of the 32-page document that analyses in detail all the mistakes made by the Nepali Maoists Dahal is accused of trying to 'hunting with the hound and running with the hare'.
