Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal met with NC president Girija Prasad Koirala Sunday morning along with other senior party members to finalise the distribution of ministries. The meeting was held at Koirala's residence in Maharajganj. However, it ended without any agreements. The party members have decided to meet again later in the day. The standing committee meeting of UML is also expected to finialise the names of its ministers.

The cabinet formation has been delayed due to differences between the parties over some key ministries. Both NC and UML have claimed some key ministries like home, finance and water resources.

These meetings are being held with the backdrop of conflict within MJF and its withdrawal from the government. MJF's support had been crucial in gather majority support for Nepal's election. Two rival fractions of MJF- the Yadav fraction and that of Gachhadar are both in discussions with central party leaders and lawmakers to garner their support.

On the other hand, Terai Madhesi Loktantrik Party (TMLP) has announced its support for the UML-led coalition and has decided to join the cabinet. TMLP has demanded two ministerial positions.

The cabinet was expanded earlier this week by inducting eight new ministers, but most ministers are yet to be allocated a ministry.

Meanwhile, situation has become tensed in in Banepa, Kavre after clashes between locals and groups who have called for a banda. Maoist affiliated Tamsaling Rastriya Mukti Morcha (TRMM) had called for a banda in ten districts including Dhading, Kavre, Rasuwa, Dolakha and Sindhupalchowk on Sunday.Locals in Banepa have vandalised the Maoist district contact office to protest the strike.
