Sujata Koirala, Prakash Sharan Mahat, Minendra Rijal, Bal Krishna Khand, Uma Kanta Chaudhary and Purna Kumar Sherma of NC are now part of the new cabinet of the UML-led coalition. UML leader Dambar Shrestha has also joined in as a minister. PM Nepal's three-member cabinet has now grown to a cabinet with 11 members.
MJF's Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar has been appointed the deputy prime minister. MJF's support was a crucial in ensuring Nepal's win for the prime minister's post. Gachhadar will also head the Ministry of Physical Planning. Sujata Koirala, who leads the NC team, will head the Foreign Ministry.
The other six ministers are awaiting decision regarding which ministry will be allocated to them. UML leaders Bidhya Bhandari and Surendra Pandey have already been appointed as defence and finance ministers respectively .
The oath of office and secrecy was adminstered to the eight newly appointed ministers by PM Nepal. The function took place in presence of President Yadav at Shital Nibas on Thursday.
Sujata Koirala's name had sparked debates within the NC with the party president Girija Prasad Koirala nominating her to lead the NC team without the consent of other senior party members. UML is yet to finalise its list of cadidates.
Meanwhile, other MJF leaders are said to have told Nepal not to induct Gachhadar into the government. On the other hand, Gachhadar has submitted a list of ministerial candidates from his party to PM Nepal.
